Our Director

GLEN CLUGSTON, Musical Director and Conductor, has worked extensively in American musical theater, including conducting the tours of Annie, 1776, Peter Pan, Fiddler On The Roof, Funny Girl and a tour of My Fair Lady in Germany and the Netherlands.

His conducting assignments have included work with such stars as Ann Miller, Howard Keel, Juliet Prowse, Sandy Duncan, John Gavin, Paige O'Hara, Bea Arthur and Charlotte Rae.

He served as music director for the Hallmark Hall of Fame television production of The Fantastiks starring Bert Lahr, Stanley Holloway and John Davidson and has been seen on the Today Show and the Tonight Show.

He has conducted productions in the nation's leading regional theaters and opera companies, such as the Kennedy Center, the Los Angeles Music Center, Michigan Opera Theater, Opera Pacific, Augusta Opera and Paper Mill Playhouse.

Clugston was cofounder of New York's American Opera Repertory company, with whom he conducted Halevy's La Juive and Mascagni's L'Amico Fritz.

His opera experience also includes conducting La Boheme, La Traviata, Madame Butterfly and Carmen for the Philadelphia Lyric Opera. He was Artistic Director and Conductor of American Musical Theater of New London, CT, presenting classics of the musical theater.

Mr. Clugston was educated at the Juilliard School of Music and studied conducting with Maestro Ernst Khoch, and Ottavio deRosa. He has concertized in 22 countries around the world, including the Berlin Festival and the Osaka Festival in Japan.

Mr. Clugston recently presented successful US premiere concerts of Antonio Vivaldi's Operatic works with his group of eight Singers and Baroque orchestra "Vocally Vivaldi." In the summer of 2001 he conducted the new musical, Come Back Little Sheba, based upon the William Inge play, starring Donna McKechnie. A CD on the “Original Cast” label has just been released.
